About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Production Technician to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Pharmacy Preparative Services, you will play a vital role in the provision of chemotherapy to patients within the trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical pharmacy support to the Pharmacy Production/Aseptic services, ensuring that all products are prepared in accordance with the Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and relevant pharmaceutical guidelines.
  • Supervise the activity of Pharmacy Assistants, student production technicians, and rotational Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Perform in-process checks for aseptically prepared/manufactured products and non-sterile products, after undertaking an accreditation program.
  • Participate in aseptic preparation of Cytotoxic, Biological medicinal products, and CIVAS.
  • Provide the final technical check for prepared Aseptic products, including checking of ingredients/starting components, worksheet, label, drug volumes, and product integrity.
  • Support and participate in the maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality Systems within the technical services department.
  • Ensure maintenance of the pharmacy manufacturing unit facilities, including monitoring, calibration, validation, and general maintenance.
Requirements
  • NVQ 3 or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
  • Science Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship Level 3.
  • Registration with a professional body.
  • Accredited Checking Qualification (desirable).
  • Evidence of further post-qualification training in Technical Services (desirable).
  • Registered with the GPhC or relevant professional body (desirable).
  • Up-to-date CPD portfolio (desirable).
