About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our Homecare team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in processing homecare prescriptions, reviewing and submitting high-cost drug funding applications, and working closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician in Homecare & High-Cost Drugs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with staff within pharmacy, within the Trust, and external organisations to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Attend homecare sourcing group meetings to represent West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and contribute to the work plan of this group.
  • Participate in weekend/bank holiday and late duty rotas in the dispensary and support the stores & distribution team during periods of heavy workload.

Person Specification

  • NVQ Level 3 and/or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
  • Evidence of further post-qualification training.
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Accredited Checking Technician Qualification (desirable).

  • Good stock control principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of NHS Hospital Pharmacy Computer System.
  • NHS Hospital organisational structure.
  • Good dispensing practice.
  • NHS Hospital Homecare Medicines Service.
  • Knowledge of high-cost drugs.
  • Laws and principles related to information security and confidentiality.
  • Laws and principles related to Health and Safety.
  • Laws and ethics related to Pharmacy and pharmaceuticals.
