Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our team at Leonardo, a leading company in the aerospace, defense, and security industry.

About the Role:

As a Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex firmware for our self-protection systems installed on fast jet, UAV, land, and naval platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop firmware using tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM.
  • Work with FPGA architectures such as Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
  • Develop fast interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD.
  • Use model-driven engineering with Matlab and Simulink tools to generate code.
  • Derive detailed firmware requirements and architecture from system requirements.
  • Apply a structured approach to firmware design, following industry standards such as RTCA DO-254.
  • Develop cryptography and anti-tamper techniques.
  • Apply artificial intelligence, including machine learning and genetic algorithms.
  • Test electronics using various methods and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Work in a mixed-discipline team environment.
  • Hold a relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Meet the requirements for UK residency and SC security clearance.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in the defense industry.
