Job Title: Senior FPGA/Firmware Development Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior FPGA/Firmware Development Lead to join our team at Leonardo. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of complex FPGA and firmware solutions for our advanced military platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers in the design and development of FPGA and firmware solutions
  • Collaborate with industry experts to design and develop cutting-edge firmware solutions
  • Oversee the development of complex embedded systems and ensure they meet demanding customer requirements
  • Travel to technical evaluations and provide technical expertise
  • Develop and implement operational processes to enhance team efficiency and innovation

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in team leadership or project management
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, and System Verilog
  • Familiarity with FPGA architectures such as Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel)
  • Expertise in fast interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD
  • Experience with auto-generated code using Matlab and Simulink tools
  • Ability to derive detailed FPGA/firmware requirements from system specifications
  • Strong grasp of FPGA/firmware design methodologies (e.g., RTCA DO-254)
  • Knowledge of cryptography, anti-tamper techniques, and AI technologies like machine learning
  • Understanding of electronics testing methods and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Eligibility for full SC security clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work
