Job Title: Principal Safety Engineer

At Leonardo, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Safety Engineer to join our Integrated Sensors & Protection Line of Business. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain Safety and Environmental Plans, Case Reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct Hazard Logs, Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Physical Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Assess supplier safety compliance and provide safety analysis activity reports.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure safety input to life-cycle management core engineering processes and design reviews.
  • Develop Environmental Suite of documents, including Environmental Features Matrix, Environmental Impact Screening and Scoping (EISS) report, and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
Requirements:
  • Engineering or science-based Honours degree.
  • Relevant experience in industry, defence, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of Safety Case development for complex systems within an Electronics or Avionics discipline.
  • Experience working with Def Stan 00-051, 00-055, 00-056, IEC, or similar standards.
  • Ability to achieve full SC security clearance and access to caveated information.
  • Understanding of RTCA DO-178 and DO254 or IEC 61508.
