About the Role
Hampshire Hospitals NHS is seeking a skilled Cancer Support Worker to join our team in the Surgical Division. As a Cancer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with cancer, providing them with the necessary information and resources to navigate the healthcare system.
Main Responsibilities
- Support patients with cancer, providing them with information and resources to manage their condition
- Work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists to register and monitor patients through My Medical Records
- Provide patients with guidance on how to use the My Medical Records platform
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients
Requirements
- GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grades A-C) or equivalent
- Evidence of learning and development courses
- Understanding of the health and social care environment
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and non-verbal)
- Experience of giving and receiving information to patients and carers
- Experience in the use of data management
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a cancer setting
- Awareness of living with and beyond cancer/personalised care agenda
