Role Summary:

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and manage significant project scope, delivering highly technological products in a complex programme environment with demanding timescales. Your leadership and attention to detail will ensure the success of the project.

The programme is entering a phase of multiple hardware and software customer acceptance and system go-live events, requiring frequent customer interaction, leading meetings, workshops, and presenting at reviews to senior customer representatives. You will be the main point of contact for a large element of the programme, responsible for delivering to cost and schedule, ensuring adherence to commercial scope and tracking costs against budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure project schedule and budget are tracked and remain on target.
  2. Provide regular financial and status reporting.
  3. Manage a project team within the programme.
  4. Oversee the delivery of the project in conjunction with the project Technical Lead.
  5. Provide support for tenders, commercial events, and customer presentations.
  6. Contribute to the development of a hardware and software product and delivery strategy.
  7. Act as the primary point of contact and escalation for project matters.
  8. Ensure the project team understands project goals.
  9. Prepare and maintain the project schedule.
  10. Manage the project risks and issues register.
  11. Ensure resources are in place to deliver projects.
  12. Liaise with other departments necessary for project delivery.
  13. Ensure customer invoicing is completed in line with project schedules.

Candidate Requirements:

The Senior Project Manager will need experience of the whole project lifecycle from bidding to warranty support and is likely to have experience in the delivery of complex systems. Their customer-facing skills and project management competencies are of the highest importance to the role.

Core Skills & Abilities:

  1. Academic qualification probably to degree level accompanied by demonstrable experience of successful project delivery.
  2. Flexible working hours to accommodate the needs of projects.
  3. Ability to manage complex projects.
  4. Strong commercial skills.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft and Google business software environments.
  6. Understanding of the project and engineering lifecycle with software and/or systems engineering experience.
