Metadata Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Metadata Specialist to join our Digital Preservation team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of our digital collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and evaluate the existing metadata flow for digital collection materials.
- Undertake clean-up, transformation, optimisation and/or enrichment of metadata in library systems to support new and existing collection management activities for digital materials.
- Inform how metadata for digital collection materials will be consumed by systems implemented within the programme, as well as systems that will remain.
- Promote and support the use of metadata for digital collection materials in its creation, enrichment, analysis, as well as in the provision of management information.
- Contribute to the development of local metadata standards and policies, develop and implement workflows, and monitor compliance with agreed metadata standards.
About the Role:
This is a new role for the Digital Preservation Coalition that is essential for delivering the digital preservation service and contributing to a wider Digital Transformation Programme. The successful candidate will have a strong background in metadata management, digital preservation, and data analysis.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of metadata standards and policies, as well as experience in working with digital preservation systems. You will also need to have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
