As a vital member of our multi-disciplinary Engineering Team, you will collaborate with fellow engineers to create novel solutions across various wavebands, including infrared and visible light, building upon decades of industry-leading expertise.

We encourage all Engineering Team members to enhance their technical skills in design, structural and thermal analyses, and model-driven engineering aspects of Mechanical Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the research, development, and manufacturing stages of the Optical Engineering lifecycle.
  • Contribute to systems architecture and requirements definition.
  • Design and develop both simple and complex Electro-Optical Systems.
  • Perform lens and optical performance analysis and simulations.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of detailed designs, including numerical calculations and tolerance studies.
  • Support the integration and testing of Electro-Optical Systems.
  • Collaborate with optical subcontractor partners and suppliers.
  • Participate in reviews of optical designs in line with business and industry standards, including knowledge of ISO 10110.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a second-class upper degree in Physics or Opto-Electronics.
  • Proven understanding of classical optics principles.
  • Experience in lens design and optical analysis.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as OpticStudio, Code V, and FRED.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical and Electronics designs related to Electro-Optical Systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a structured and logical approach to addressing challenges.
  • Experience in testing and manufacturing optical systems, whether for demonstration models or production.

Desirable Skills:

  • MSc or PhD in an applied optics field or a related discipline.
  • Experience in defining and commissioning Optical Testing.
  • Knowledge of laser optics.
  • Expertise in Electro-Optical Systems modeling, including range performance and sensors.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Design.
  • Proficiency in numerical, programming, and symbolic software (MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, C++, etc.).
  • Ability to support the development of functional processes and best practices.
