We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Orthoptist to join our team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for leading our orthoptic services and managing a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.
Main Responsibilities- Provide high-quality orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner, managing your own clinical workload and leading clinics in orthoptic-led follow-up, joint orthoptic and neuro-ophthalmology, paediatric, and eye casualty.
- Take part in extended roles within ophthalmology using the Ophthalmic Practitioner Training (OPT) programme.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients referred to the orthoptic service, including those with paediatric visual disorders, ocular motility disorders, neuro-ophthalmology, and other ophthalmic conditions.
- Manage and lead a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals, including line management, training, supervision, and assessment.
