Childcare Play Facilitator

Position: Childcare Play Facilitator (internally referred to as Play Assistant)

Location: Breakfast and afterschool club setting

Job Type: Part-time

10 hours per week during term time (38 weeks). Working hours: 7:00am - 9:00am

or

26.25 hours per week during term time (38 weeks). Working hours: 7:00am - 9:00am & 2:45pm - 6:00pm

Additional hours available through various roles within the organization

Compensation: £11.44 per hour, plus benefits

In this position, you will enhance your abilities and knowledge in creating a nurturing, safe, and secure atmosphere for children to grow and learn through diverse play experiences. You will gain insights into assisting with the planning and execution of a suitable array of recreational activities for children aged 4 to 11.

These positions are part-time; however, if you wish to increase your working hours, we offer a broad range of roles across the organization outside of your club hours, including soft play, day camps, swimming, and more.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of a variety of quality play opportunities.
  • Engage with children and involve them in the planned activities.
  • Set up play areas with appropriate play materials, including rearranging furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Support the safe collection and delivery of children between school and the childcare environment.
  • Provide refreshments, including hot and cold snacks, while promoting positive behavior and engagement among children.
  • Ensure adherence to hygiene, health, and safety standards.
  • Administer first aid when necessary.
  • Act as a designated key worker for several children, which includes communicating with parents and teachers regarding children's needs and progress.
  • Assist with club administration as required.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns and report any issues to your supervisor.
  • Participate in relevant training and comply with company policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare or playwork.
  • Food Hygiene certification.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Safeguarding Children training.
