As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting patients within our specialized mental health setting. Working closely with qualified Occupational Therapists, you'll contribute to the delivery of evidence-based care and help patients achieve their goals.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist patients in accessing community resources for both recreational and therapeutic purposes.
- Participate in patient meetings, addressing concerns and providing feedback.
- Support the facilitation of a carers forum, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Contribute to ensuring that Occupational Therapy approaches are grounded in current research and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with the wider Occupational Therapy team and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless information flow.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, providing clear and concise reports.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of communication barriers and employ effective strategies to engage with service users.
- Build therapeutic rapport with patients, maximizing their potential for growth and recovery.
- Handle sensitive information with tact, reassurance, and motivational skills.
- Consider individual needs and adapt your approach to accommodate diverse learning styles and mental states.
- Support patients in developing leave plans and making informed recreational choices that promote well-being.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to address daily patient needs.
- Represent the Occupational Therapist at multidisciplinary team meetings, providing updates on patient progress and monitoring changes.
- Liaise with nursing colleagues and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care and progress.
