About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Controller to join our Portfolio Office at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). As a Project Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects and contracts across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project controls, risks, and issues, and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders across the business.
- Develop and apply project management processes and tools, and continually improve them.
- Provide specialist knowledge and skills to ensure NPL is seen as an exemplar in project management by our customers, partners, stakeholders, and staff.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and exhibit excellent influencing skills to enable delivery.
- Perform reviews on projects to inform if a project is ready to move to the next stage, recommend actions to improve progress, and provide progress updates in accordance with governance frameworks.

Essential Experience and Abilities:
- Highly proficient in project controls management techniques and their application.
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.
- Experience in developing and applying project management processes and tools, and a willingness to continually improve.
- Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office.
Desirable Experience and Abilities:
- Demonstrable experience in managing high-complexity projects or a prioritization approach within a PMO environment.
- Experience in working on projects with multiple partners from industry, government, and academia, and a technical scope of work.
- Proficiency in MS Project desirable (training is available).
- Project management qualification or equivalent is desirable.
