Job Title: Electrical Assessor

Grwp Llandrillo Menai, a leading college in North Wales, is seeking an experienced Electrical Assessor to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a vital role in supporting and assessing Electrical learners in achieving their NVQ qualification.

Job Purpose:

Responsible to the Construction Programme Area Manager, you will work as a member of the construction team to support and assess Electrical learners' practical and portfolio work. This will involve working with learners mainly within the workplace, ensuring that instructing and assessment is of a consistently high standard.

The post involves travelling to different workplaces to meet with learners/employers, observing apprentices carrying out Electrical tasks, and ensuring that their work meets industrial/professional standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • A: Assessing Learners' Needs
    • Provide prospective learners/trainees and employers with advice and guidance.
    • Assess learners' previous learning experiences and achievements in relation to the identified learning programme.
    • Conduct interviews with prospective students and administer selection tests.
    • Undertake initial assessments and identify special learning or support needs.
    • Liaise with the Team Leader regarding student activities (enrolment, training plans, framework, etc).
    • Ensure learners are enrolled in college and registered with awarding bodies.
    • Carry out necessary inductions with learners for their training programmes.
  • B: Monitor and Support Learner Achievements
    • Monitor and support learners/trainees to achieve their qualifications through individual training plans.
    • Ensure all necessary reviews are completed within required timescales.
    • Provide feedback to the Team Leader and employers on learners' progress.
    • Liaise with college staff to support the development and delivery of qualifications in the workplace.
    • Ensure learners are supported and produce evidence in their chosen language.
    • Embed basic skills, Essential Skills, and other Framework elements into learning programmes as required.
    • Select a range of learning methods to suit individual learners/trainees.
    • Provide underpinning knowledge support if identified in the Individual Learning Plan.
  • C: Assessing the Outcomes of Learning and Learners' Achievements
    • Carry out appropriate assessment strategies for learning programmes in line with awarding body requirements and communicate these to learners.
    • Use a range of assessment methods to conduct fair and reliable assessments.
    • Provide learners with clear and constructive written and oral feedback within an appropriate timescale.
    • Maintain assessment records and provide information to relevant stakeholders.
    • Communicate with the Team Leader regarding learners' progress.
  • D: Maintain Quality Systems
    • Ensure all recording systems are maintained (training plans and reviews, programme files, registers, etc).
    • Support the Team Leader in maintaining the general quality of programmes.
    • Contribute to the annual review of all programmes and support the Team Leader in completing college annual review and evaluation documentation.
    • Contribute to the college Annual Self-Assessment system.
    • Ensure health and safety monitoring visits are carried out for every learner annually.
    • Support the Team Leader in ensuring compliance with college and awarding body IV procedures.
    • Support the Team Leader to ensure External Verification requirements are met.
  • F: Other Duties
    • Take responsibility for self-development in line with college strategic aims.
    • Carry out all duties with full regard to Health and Safety Procedures and Equal Opportunities.
    • Carry out all duties in line with college policies and procedures.
    • Keep abreast of all college initiatives and promote where relevant.
    • Perform any other duties reasonably expected in line with the Job role.
