Technical Underwriter - Motor Division
As a Technical Underwriter, you will collaborate closely with both the Technical and Business Development Teams to enhance the acquisition and retention of profitable business, aligning with the underwriting strategies and business objectives of the company across a diverse portfolio of Geo Motor products. Your role will involve generating and underwriting new business opportunities while maximizing the retention of existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities of the Technical Underwriter:
- Identify and cultivate new underwriting opportunities across various relationships and product lines.
- Exhibit strong technical skills along with trading and negotiation expertise to successfully retain and acquire business.
- Build and sustain key account underwriting relationships.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge and trading capabilities across all relevant Geo Motor binders for the designated product area.
- Provide one-on-one development support and/or group training as needed by the business.
- Lead the underwriting process for complex risks.
- Assist in product administration and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with the technical team to explore new underwriting opportunities across various products.
- Acquire and retain profitable target business in accordance with established underwriting strategies, business plans, financial performance goals, and individual productivity expectations.
- Underwrite within the authority and licenses granted by the business.
- Ensure high-quality underwriting and record-keeping through quality assurance monitoring.
- Meet key team and individual performance targets.
Desired Qualifications for the Technical Underwriter:
- Cert CII is essential; DIP CII/ACII is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of the specialist market and product offerings.
- Proven ability to train effectively (Train the Trainer certification is essential).
- Demonstrated success in writing profitable business within the Motor specialist market.
- Familiarity with the legal and regulatory insurance framework.
- Commitment to technical excellence and high-level performance in a specialized market.
- Strong decision-making skills and confidence.
- Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organized with a focus on individual and business objectives, priorities, and deliverables.
- A proactive driver of positive business change.
- Strong awareness of customer needs and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
