About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Senior Finance Auditor to join our Audit and Risk team at Howdens Joinery, a leading FTSE 100 company. As a Senior Finance Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in driving finance and accountancy-focused internal audits and reviews across our rapidly growing business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage Audit Assignments: Lead and manage the delivery of audit and review assignments, ensuring high-quality outcomes and effective risk management.
  • Build Stakeholder Relationships: Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including leadership teams, to influence and advise on risk management and governance.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management Team: Collaborate with the Risk Management team to identify and assess current and emerging risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Evaluate Financial Risks: Evaluate significant financial risks across processes, projects, services, and business applications, and assess the design, effectiveness, and efficiency of key internal controls.
  • Prepare Audit Reports: Prepare clear, concise, and informative audit reports, and provide insightful advice to the business on areas of change and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in Change Programmes: Participate in major change programmes, offering critical support on governance and control development, and develop actionable recommendations to reduce risk.
Requirements
  • Proven Finance Audit Experience: Proven experience in finance internal audit and risk, with a track record of presenting in close-out meetings to Finance Directors within a dynamic environment.
  • Professional Qualifications: CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualification or nearing completion.
  • Strong Knowledge of Finance Auditing: Strong knowledge of finance auditing and risk management, including internal audit practices, principles, and procedures.
  • Exceptional Relationship-Building Skills: Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail, with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Highly Motivated: Highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
