Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled VAT Accountant to join our Finance & Tax team. This role offers a hybrid working model and is based in our office. As part of a global organization, you will benefit from a strong emphasis on professional development and a supportive workplace culture.

The VAT Accountant will be integral in ensuring compliance with UK VAT regulations, focusing on the preparation of the UK Quarterly VAT Return for various business lines, including insurance brokerage. This role is an excellent opportunity for career growth within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Groups.
  • Extract and verify data from multiple IT systems, analyzing transactions in accordance with UK VAT legislation.
  • Conduct transactional reviews in line with internal procedures and HMRC VAT compliance standards.
  • Support the UK Tax team with International VAT compliance preparation and contribute to process enhancements and system improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully).
  • CCAB or ATT qualification is preferred.
  • Experience in a complex International Group with various VAT recoverable rates.
  • Proficient in producing UK and International VAT returns.
  • Strong understanding of current UK and International VAT laws.
  • Familiarity with VAT-specific software, such as Alpha VAT, is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of stakeholders.
  • Experience in data manipulation from diverse sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Highly organized with effective time management abilities.
  • Possess a proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
