Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled VAT Accountant to join our Finance & Tax team. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement and is an excellent opportunity to be part of a global organization that values professional development and fosters a supportive work culture.

The VAT Accountant will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with UK VAT regulations, focusing on the preparation of the UK Quarterly VAT Return for various business lines, including the UK VAT Group and insurance brokerage operations. This position is designed for individuals looking to advance their careers in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the UK Quarterly VAT Return for the UK VAT Groups.
  • Extract and verify data from multiple IT systems, analyzing transactions in accordance with UK VAT legislation.
  • Conduct transactional reviews in line with internal standard operating procedures and HMRC VAT compliance guidelines.
  • Support the UK Tax team with the preparation and review of International VAT compliance and contribute to process enhancements and system improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • ACA (or equivalent) or CTA (part or fully) qualified tax professional.
  • CCAB or ATT qualified.
  • Experience in a complex International Group with various VAT recoverable rates.
  • Proficient in producing UK and International VAT returns.
  • Strong understanding of current UK and International VAT legislation.
  • Familiarity with VAT-specific software, such as Alpha VAT, is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in data manipulation from diverse sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Highly organized with effective time management abilities.
  • Possess a proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
