Infection Control Specialist

Role Overview: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement evidence-based protocols for managing infection prevention and control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide isolated and infected patients through established infection control practices.
- Provide comprehensive training and instruction to both individuals and groups of staff, utilizing effective communication skills to address any barriers to understanding.
- Assist in the development and delivery of educational programs across various departments and wards.
- Identify and assess training needs, addressing gaps in knowledge and practice related to infection prevention.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and action plans, recommending improvements in areas with low compliance.
- Respond to inquiries from the public and patients regarding infection risks and management strategies.
- Educate both clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure proper documentation practices are followed, particularly concerning intravenous access.
- Work closely with medical microbiology and clinical teams across all wards, fostering innovative approaches to integrate infection control measures.
- Engage in observational studies and audits related to bacteraemia, ensuring effective communication with multidisciplinary team members.
- Assess sensitive situations and manage conflicts, involving senior Infection Control Team members when necessary.
- Prepare regular progress reports for the Infection Control Team.
