Your role:
As the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) advances into its next phase, we are seeking a skilled governance and scrutiny officer to enhance our esteemed team. This position is pivotal in establishing robust governance frameworks that facilitate the organization in serving the residents of Greater Manchester effectively.
Our team acts as a central hub for fostering collaboration by creating clear decision-making pathways and opportunities for key stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue.

About you:
We are in search of a seasoned governance officer who possesses extensive knowledge from a background in governance, public administration, or a related discipline. This role encompasses supporting high-level statutory meetings, coordinating agendas, producing minutes, overseeing action delivery, and providing procedural guidance.
A comprehensive understanding of local government structures and processes, along with the functions of the GMCA, is essential. You will be tasked with identifying opportunities to enhance governance roles both within the organization and with partner entities.
Your ability to cultivate strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, will be crucial in collectively achieving the goals outlined in the Greater Manchester Strategy.
This position offers the chance to conduct research and assess intelligence while ensuring our governance practices are compliant with relevant legislation.
You should be highly organized, detail-oriented, politically astute, and possess strong communication skills adaptable to various audiences.
