Job Title: Clinical Lead for Secure Mental Health Services

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Clinical Lead to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership for our secure mental health services, with a particular focus on the care pathways for women.

About the Role:

  • Provide clinical leadership for the development and implementation of care pathways for women in secure mental health services.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care and effective service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders to redesign services and improve outcomes.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of change management initiatives to improve service performance.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient service delivery.

Person Specification:

  • Management qualification or professional qualification (RMN, OT, Psychologist or Social Worker) or equivalent level of experience and proven ability to perform at this level.
  • Professional registration in health/social care profession (GMC, NMC, HCPC or SWE).
  • Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in a consultant or professional lead role within forensic mental health.
  • Experience of providing teaching, training at post-registration or qualification level to colleagues within the Trust, other agencies and educational settings.
  • Good understanding of change management, budget management, efficiency savings and financial recovery plans.
  • Experience of using new ways of working to modernise services without additional resources.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services.
  • Measurable track record in involving and motivating staff to improve performance.
  • Excellent analytical skills to be able to communicate service decisions both internally and externally to the organisation.
  • Good working knowledge of Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act legislation.

Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of the drivers behind Mental Health Policy and understanding of regulatory framework for Foundation Trusts.
  • VDU user and competent user of IT packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and openly with staff at all levels, from the Executive Team to frontline staff.
  • Ability to present highly complex and emotive information.
  • Ability to impart unwelcome news to staff and/or patients that is of a distressing or emotional nature such as Serious Incidents and/or Safeguarding matters etc.
  • An open and facilitative style of leadership which can be adapted when necessary to ensure delivery of objectives.
  • Able to hold senior professionals and peers to account.
  • An excellent understanding of effective systems for integrated governance and the management of clinical and non-clinical risks.
  • Strong performance management skills combining clarity around expectations, direction and holding others to account.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret performance and financial information, excellent numerical and presentational skills.
