About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Care Worker to join our team at a SEN School in Bath. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, providing emotional and social support to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide One-on-One Support: Offer guidance and support to students, helping them manage social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
  • Develop Pastoral Support Plans: Create and implement individual plans to address specific needs and promote student well-being.
  • Monitor Student Progress: Maintain accurate records and report concerns to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Support Attendance Initiatives: Work with families to address barriers to regular attendance.
  • Lead Workshops and Sessions: Facilitate small group sessions or workshops focused on topics such as social skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Act as a Point of Contact: Provide guidance and support to parents/carers on pastoral issues.
  • Liaise with External Agencies: Coordinate holistic support for students with external agencies, such as social services, healthcare providers, and mental health professionals.
  • Promote a Positive School Ethos: Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and kindness within the school.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with Children: Proven experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or social care setting.
  • Understanding of SEN: Understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEN and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and professionals.
  • Ability to Remain Calm Under Pressure: Ability to manage challenging situations with empathy and resilience.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
  • Qualifications: Qualifications in education, psychology, counseling, or social care (desired but not essential).
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Policies: Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
