Position Overview:

The Smoking in Pregnancy Research Group within the School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated Research Operations Coordinator to provide essential support across various research initiatives.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to engage with significant randomized controlled trials aimed at assisting pregnant women in cessation of smoking, with participant recruitment spanning the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of two pivotal trials focused on interventions for smoking cessation among pregnant women.
  • Collaborate closely with Trial Managers, Trial Coordinators, and other Research Administrators to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Follow up with research participants to maintain high response rates and ensure the integrity of data collected.
  • Communicate effectively with recruitment sites and perform a variety of administrative tasks to support the research team.

Team Environment:

We foster a collaborative approach to research project delivery, encouraging contributions to additional studies based on individual skills, interests, and availability.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A solid educational background, including GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent), or a relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ2 in Administration with Secretarial Skills).
  • Proven experience in an administrative or secretarial role, preferably within a research or clinical trial context.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.

This position is available on a fixed-term basis. Full-time hours are preferred; however, applications for part-time work (minimum of 21.75 hours per week) are also encouraged. Please indicate your preference for part-time hours in your application.
