About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health Visitor to join our team at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. As a Health Visitor, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and wellbeing of children and their families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the team to plan and deliver a commissioned health visiting service, identifying health needs and developing individual programmes of care.
  • Maintain the safety and protection of children by following Pan-Sussex Child Protection procedures and participating in meetings, discussions, and case conferences as appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to offer optimum support to children and families, keeping accurate and contemporaneous records and written reports as required.
  • Represent the clinical area at relevant forums and meetings, using IT and performance management systems to improve the quality and coordination of services and meet contractual requirements.
  • Adhere to the Trust's safeguarding procedures, attending case conferences, other meetings, and partnership working as required.
  • Provide support for the recruitment and selection of team members, including managing the induction and orientation for new staff, and participating in analysis of the caseload to ensure an efficient and effective service.
  • Act as a clinical expert and health information resource, participating in training, education, and orientation programmes for staff, students, and others as required.
  • Incorporate relevant research findings into practice and participate in approved research programmes, providing supervision and support for the delivery of an effective programme of childhood developmental surveillance and health promotion activities.
Person Specification
  • NMC registered SCPHN (HV) and Registered Nurse/Midwife Qualification.
  • Essential skills include clinical competences appropriate to the role, excellent written skills, and the ability to assess, develop, and implement programmes of care.
  • Desirable skills include mentorship qualification level 6/7, Practice Teacher, and Level 3 Child Protection module.
