Fire Safety Coordinator


The Fire Safety Coordinator will oversee and facilitate all elements of fire safety within the organization, including the development and revision of Fire Risk Assessments, integrating mitigation strategies from these assessments into fire plans and emergency protocols.


Ensure that all Emergency Preparedness measures related to safe operations and emergency evacuations are sufficient and adhere to regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular reviews of all fire safety measures, at least on a quarterly basis, ensuring any modifications are communicated effectively to the team.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
  • Ensure that all organizational fire procedures, safety standards, and site plans are comprehended and followed by all personnel.
  • Supervise weekly inspections of fire safety equipment, detection systems, and alarms, ensuring documentation by the Fire Safety Coordinators.
  • Verify that all escape routes, access for fire and rescue services, and fire-fighting resources are routinely assessed by designated Fire Safety Coordinators.
  • Monitor adherence to the site’s fire safety strategy.
  • Oversee the maintenance of fire safety equipment and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure that weekly fire alarm tests and site safety checks are conducted and documented according to company protocols.
  • Facilitate fire drills at required intervals across all platforms.
  • Supervise the procedures for contacting fire and rescue services.
  • Provide and update the Fire and Rescue Service with essential information, including:
  • Designated emergency escape routes and staircases.
  • Locations of fire points and hydrants.
  • Temporary structures and storage areas within buildings.


Promote a culture of fire safety within the workplace, emphasizing excellent housekeeping practices.


  • Oversee the execution of weekly Fire Safety Inspections, ensuring findings are documented and retained.
  • Manage the completion of weekly fire alarm tests and site safety checks.
  • Ensure that electrical and gas systems are secured during emergencies.
  • Confirm that all installed tunnel fire main outlets and smoke curtains are tested, inspected, and documented.
  • Collaborate closely with the Fire Safety team to ensure compliance with the Principal Contractor's requirements.
  • Manage fire safety objectives in line with the HSE Performance Indicator scoring criteria, ensuring monthly compliance.
  • Participate in daily and weekly Fire Safety meetings with contractors to ensure a unified approach to fire safety across the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possess a valid and relevant CSCS card.
  • Demonstrate strong, up-to-date technical knowledge of fire safety.
  • Hold, at a minimum, the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety qualification or an equivalent certification.
  • Achieve NVQ Level 6 in Fire Safety (or be working towards it).
