About the Role

KLS Law is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our team as a Trainee Solicitor. As a Trainee Solicitor, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, gaining valuable experience and skills in the field of law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a range of legal, technical and administrative tasks as directed and under close supervision.
  • Conduct legal research and provide clients with advice on costs.
  • Conduct interviews with clients in person and over the telephone.
  • Assess legal problems and devise outline strategy for each case.
  • Draft case papers and witness statements.
  • Obtain information from relevant experts and assess the strengths and weaknesses of the case.
  • Brief Counsel and negotiate settlements.
  • Issue Proceedings and attend Court with Counsel and take notes.
  • Make interlocutory applications and maintain confidentiality.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain files in accordance with procedure.
  • Deal with billing, paying costs and closing files.
  • Follow administrative systems and procedures.

Development Opportunities

  • Attend internal courses and PSC.
  • Keep up to date with law and practice.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
  • Attention to detail and team-working skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and view situations from a business or commercial perspective.
  • Ability to delegate tasks, supervising where appropriate.
  • Showing own initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
