Chief Accountant

Hays Senior Finance is proud to be working in partnership with the Gloucestershire Constabulary to recruit a Chief Accountant to join their finance team in Gloucester. This role is ideal for a first-time mover from practice looking for their first industry role or someone currently working within the Local Government.

About the Role

This is a pivotal role within the finance team, responsible for ensuring the Constabulary meets all its statutory financial responsibilities. The successful candidate will lead on the development and coordination of financial statements, statutory and non-statutory reporting, and the systems of financial controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the development and coordination of financial statements
  • Responsibility for statutory and non-statutory reporting
  • Responsibility for the systems of financial controls, driving standardisation and improvements
  • Lead in the production of the Capital Programme and the capital elements of the Medium Term Financial Plan
  • To provide an effective treasury management function
  • To develop, manage and motivate the Technical Team (5 FTE)
