Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to join our Facilities team within the People directorate.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that SQA adheres to all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, thereby fostering a secure working environment for both employees and visitors. The role encompasses the following duties:
  • Providing expert advice and support to colleagues on all matters related to Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
  • Delivering a diverse range of customer-oriented facilities services to achieve operational goals.
  • Leading and executing Environmental initiatives, campaigns, and projects aligned with our Environmental strategy.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on Health, Safety, and Environmental activities, including detailed analyses as required by corporate objectives.
  • Investigating Health and Safety incidents, including workplace accidents, and implementing necessary improvements.

Required Skills and Experience:
Applicants should possess:
  • Experience in direct line management.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members to enhance performance.
  • A track record of contributing to continuous improvement initiatives through the identification and recommendation of process enhancements and efficiency gains.

Minimum educational requirements include SCQF level 6 (Higher/SVQ 3) or equivalent relevant experience. Candidates should embody the values of SQA (Trusted, Progressive, and Enabling) to foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
