We are seeking a skilled Health Information Processing Clerk to join our team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.
Job Summary:This is a casual position that involves performing clerical duties related to the preparation, maintenance, and storage of patient information in paper and electronic form. The successful candidate will provide secretarial support to Managers and Physicians, as well as perform quantitative analysis to ensure accuracy of patient records.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct quantitative analysis to ensure accuracy of patient records;
- Monitor and maintain an electronic tracking system for deficient patient charts;
- Provide secretarial support to Managers and Physicians, including typing memos, correspondence, and medical reports;
- Retrieve, organize, and file patient records, reports, and other documents;
- Answer inquiries regarding patient information in accordance with legislative statutes, IHA, and established policies and guidelines;
- Perform data entry functions for clinical registries and/or databases;
- Assist physicians in completing patient documentation by performing quantitative analysis;
- Provide reception duties, including answering telephone calls, transferring calls, and directing visitors to appropriate areas.
- A current 5 Minute Typing Test with a speed of 55 wpm or greater, completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution;
- Proof of completion of a Medical Terminology Course;
- A minimum of two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
- A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work.
