Job Overview

As the Chief Compliance Strategist for Visa, you will be instrumental in shaping the compliance framework within Visa's Global Ethics and Compliance team. Your role will be critical in navigating the complex regulatory landscape across various regions including EU, AP, CEMEA, LAC, and NA.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of compliance management tasks, ensuring alignment with global policies and regulatory standards. You will lead compliance technology evaluations, manage teams, and oversee both board and regulatory reporting. Your expertise will be essential in driving strategic initiatives and managing projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a visionary compliance strategy that aligns with Visa's Money Movement Solutions and overall Global Ethics and Compliance objectives, providing insights to address intricate regulatory challenges.
  • Lead the creation and enhancement of compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they adapt to evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Act as an advocate for Visa and its clientele, collaborating closely with Money Movement business and development teams to ensure compliance with current and forthcoming regulatory mandates.
  • Foster a culture of compliance through targeted training programs across all business areas, promoting a sense of accountability and awareness at every organizational level.
  • Serve as the compliance liaison for Visa with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely provision of necessary documentation and addressing compliance inquiries.
  • Oversee internal compliance investigations and formulate comprehensive remediation strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively across Visa departments and regions to integrate compliance requirements into business operations, working alongside risk management and other stakeholders to tackle complex compliance issues.
  • Lead global compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to AML/CFT regulations and implementing necessary policies and controls to mitigate risks associated with money laundering and terrorist financing.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as a Chief Compliance Officer in the Banking or Payments sector, including Correspondent Banking, Fintechs, and Foreign Exchange across multiple jurisdictions.
  • In-depth understanding of financial regulations, AML/CFT requirements, and compliance practices, with the capability to make independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, evidenced by successful team development and strategic execution.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic regulatory environment.
  • Experience in a highly regulated setting is essential.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the financial sector.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent are advantageous.
