Job Summary

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our teaching laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of reagents and equipment allocation for classes, setting out and clearing away of teaching materials, and ensuring equipment is in good working order.
  • Provide general technical support for the wider Department, including maintenance and repair of equipment, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Support the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with researchers and other support staff to ensure effective laboratory operations.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for laboratory staff and students.

Requirements

  • GCSE or equivalent in Chemistry and/or Biology.
  • Manual dexterity and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a small team and multi-national groups.
  • Conscientious, accurate, and methodical approach with the ability to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines.
