About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist to join our team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical input on the acute hospital site and will be part of the clinical leadership of the team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist rehabilitation as part of the Major trauma centre pathway
  • Join the clinical service delivery to the artificial limb unit
  • Provide additional clinical input on the acute hospital site
  • Be part of the clinical leadership of the team
Person Specification
  • Full Registration with the GMC
  • Postgraduate qualification in Education or significant experience in post graduate training/teaching
  • Ability to manage and lead medical/surgical teams
  • Ability to lead on smooth and efficient running of the unit
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage high intensity workload
Fitness To Practise
  • Demonstrating the skills, knowledge, character and health to practise safely and effectively
Clinical skills
  • Ability to offer sound clinical opinion on range of acute medical conditions
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Commitment to clinical governance / improving quality of patient care
  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
  • Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs and medical students
  • Evidence of participation in audit
  • Ability to extrapolate clinical research evidence to care for individual patients
Language Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in English Language
  • Good communication and empathy skills with patients
  • Knowledge and experience of managing rehabilitation needs of patients with long term conditions
Personal skills
  • Ability to integrate the care of a patient by many and various other clinical staff
  • Willingness to work flexibly to deliver clinically effective and cost-effective healthcare
  • Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service
