We are seeking a dedicated Practice Lead specializing in Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).
This role has been significantly enhanced due to the decision to bring the DoLS service in-house. It presents a unique opportunity for a driven and passionate individual to contribute to the establishment and development of this new team, shaping the future of DOLS and MCA practice.
The Practice Lead will work closely with the DoLS Operational Team Manager to deliver the statutory functions of Hull City Council. They will oversee the day-to-day management of the Deprivation of Liberty process, ensuring all legal responsibilities and duties are fulfilled.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced practitioner who will champion the implementation of Mental Capacity Act/Deprivation of Liberty policies and procedures. This individual will ensure that local managing authorities and the workforce (both internal and external) are equipped to identify instances of unlawful Deprivation of Liberty.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of relevant legislation and the ability to apply it effectively in person-centered practice. They will supervise and support the work of Best Interest Assessors, providing guidance, mentorship, and advice to ensure that through the correct application of the MCA and DoLS process, individuals' Article 5 right to liberty and security and Article 8 right to respect for private and family life, home, and correspondence are protected.
Strong relationship-building skills and an understanding of the roles played by other organizations will enable effective collaboration with external partners.
