About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Caretaker to join our team at a vibrant Secondary School in South West London. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school premises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the security of the school premises, including locking/unlocking buildings, responding to alarms, and ensuring all entry points are secure.
  • Conduct routine checks and minor repairs for various facilities and equipment, such as heating systems, plumbing, lighting, and fixtures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met in classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and communal areas.
  • Implement health and safety protocols, including fire drills and emergency procedures, and report any hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Perform basic grounds maintenance, including litter picking, gardening, and snow clearing as needed.
  • Oversee and coordinate external contractors for larger maintenance projects when necessary.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment, and order replacements as needed.
  • Collaborate with school staff and management to address maintenance and safety concerns promptly.

About You:

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in caretaking roles, ideally within educational settings. You should have a strong work ethic, be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe and clean environment for our students and staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous Caretaker Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong Maintenance Skills: Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair tasks such as plumbing, electrical, and general upkeep.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial in ensuring the cleanliness and organisation of our school premises.
  • Excellent Communication: Clear and effective communication is necessary when interacting with staff, students, and external contractors.
  • Positive Attitude: A positive and proactive attitude in addressing issues and solving problems is highly valued.
