About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic to join our team as a Professor of Chinese Language and Interpreting. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and assessing Chinese language and interpreting courses at various levels, as well as contributing to the development of new courses and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and assess Chinese language and interpreting courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Develop and deliver new courses and programs in Chinese language and interpreting
  • Contribute to the development of the department's research agenda in Chinese language and interpreting
  • Supervise PhD students and provide mentorship to junior staff members
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide committees and working groups
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a PhD in a relevant field, with a strong background in Chinese language and interpreting. You will also need to have experience in teaching and assessing Chinese language and interpreting courses at university level, as well as a developing program of research in an area that complements the existing strengths of the department.

You will be expected to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students. You will also need to be proficient in the use of relevant IT packages and have a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
