Job Title: Nurse Specialist - Substance Misuse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our Drug and Alcohol Support Service (DASS) team at West London NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with patients who experience difficulties arising from their alcohol and/or drug use, providing specialist assessment, treatment, and management of substance misuse issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment interventions for patients with substance misuse histories, including risk assessment and management.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment plans, taking into account individual patient profiles and needs.
  • Contribute to the growth of a culture that empowers staff and patients to manage substance misuse effectively and confidently.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to provide advice, supervision, and consultation on substance-related issues.
  • Participate in regular training and supervision to maintain and develop clinical knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with up-to-date mandatory training.
  • Experience working with forensic mental health service users, preferably in in-patient forensic services, and ideally with co-morbid substance use problems.
  • Post-basic qualification in a relevant area, such as substance misuse, is desirable.
