Pain Medicine Specialist

This role requires a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to lead the Dorset Pain Management Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical leadership and management to the team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
Main Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Manage and supervise junior medical staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures.
- Engage with stakeholders to promote the service and build partnerships.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A general medical qualification (e.g., MBBS) and a Licence to Practise.
- Membership of the Royal College of Anaesthetics or a recognised equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in pain medicine, with experience in clinical leadership and management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment as a Consultant in Pain Medicine, with a CCT in Anaesthetics within 6 months of appointment.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience- Excellent knowledge and skills in pain medicine, with experience in clinical leadership and management.
- Ability to make decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.

- Approved educational supervisor training, with experience in providing guidance and support to junior medical staff.
- Experience of carrying out an audit project, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Experience or involvement in a research project, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Ability to supervise junior medical staff and/or other staff from the MDT to undertake research projects.
