Diligenta is seeking a Data Centre Operations Lead to oversee our critical IT infrastructure and ensure seamless operations 24/7.

As the lead operator, you will manage a team responsible for the day-to-day activities of our data centre facilities, encompassing both physical security and IT operational aspects. You'll play a vital role in maintaining our servers and networks, implementing preventative measures to ensure smooth operations, prevent errors, and address any physical system issues.

This position demands strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and third-party providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of data centre technicians in maintaining and operating our IT infrastructure.
  • Install, test, and maintain a wide range of IT hardware and cabling within our data centres, including fibre optic cabling.
  • Develop project documentation and provide technical guidance as a subject matter expert.
  • Supervise staff to ensure projects, change activities, and daily tasks are executed to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate with the IT Computer and Datacentre Operations Manager to uphold data centre standards, procedures, health and safety protocols, and address day-to-day infrastructure performance issues.
  • Create, review, and approve job tickets, coordinating implementation stages with Project Managers, Infrastructure, and Network teams.
  • Ensure continuous operation of the data centre 24/7 by conducting daily audits and reporting on service performance levels.
  • Provide remote hands support services for data centre infrastructure as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining data centre infrastructure, including multi-platform systems.
  • Manage tape and media backups.
  • Conduct physical security checks within the data centre environment.
Qualifications:
  • IT/Computer Sciences degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum Grade 4 GCSE Standard Pass in Maths and English.
  • ITIL Foundation level certification or higher.
  • Proven experience leading a team within a technical environment.
  • Hands-on experience working within a data centre environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hardware management, backup processes (Brightstor, Netbackup, Commvault), server hardware and ILO configuration, network hardware, and datacentre infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience operating within an ITIL framework with a commitment to continuous improvement within the IT function.
