Data Centre Operations Lead

About the Role

Diligenta is seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Lead to join our team. As a key member of our IT operations team, you will be responsible for leading a small team working in our datacentre facilities 24/7.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of a data centre from an IT operational perspective and physical security.
  • Responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of a wide range of IT infrastructure and cabling within our data centres.
  • Develop project documentation and provide advice as a technical authority.
  • Lead data centre projects and supervise staff on site to ensure project tasks, change activities, regular daily activities are fully delivered to the right standard.
  • Support the IT Computer and Datacentre Operations Manager to maintain all datacentre standards, procedures, health and safety, and day-to-day infrastructure performance issues.
  • Ensure that the data centre is maintained and operational 24/7 by providing daily audits and reporting about the performance level of service.
  • Support and be available for shift and on-call work occurring outside of normal business hours.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date rack inventory details.
  • Provide data centre remote hands support services when required.
  • Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining data centre infrastructure and supporting multi-platform systems.
  • Tape/Media management.
  • Physical security checks.
  • Provide data centre engineering support for all remote data centres (travel necessary).

Requirements

  • IT/Computer Sciences degree or equivalent.
  • Must include Grade 4 GCSE Standard Pass or above in Maths and English.
  • ITIL- minimum Foundation level.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Proven knowledge and hands-on experience within a datacentre environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with: Hardware management (e.g. rack, stack) Backup process (Brightstor, Netbackup, Commvault) - awareness Server hardware and ILO configuration intermediate Network hardware intermediate Datacentre infrastructure intermediate.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve issues and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience operating within an ITIL framework with drive for continual improvement within the IT function.
