About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Homicide Family Caseworker to join our team at Victim Support. As a key member of our Homicide Service, you will provide high-quality support to families bereaved by and witness to homicide, delivering exceptional advocacy and guidance to help them navigate the criminal justice process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a complex caseload of families affected by homicide, providing tailored support and advocacy to meet their unique needs.
- Work closely with Police Major Crime teams to ensure seamless coordination and effective communication.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including police, social services, and other agencies.
- Provide expert guidance and support to families, helping them to navigate the criminal justice system and access relevant services.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for staff and volunteers, ensuring that our services are trauma-informed and responsive to the needs of families.
Requirements:
- Proven experience of working with vulnerable families and individuals, particularly those affected by trauma and bereavement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families, colleagues, and external partners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the changing needs of families.
- Strong understanding of the impact of crime on victims and their families, with a commitment to delivering trauma-informed services.
- Ability to travel to home visits and other locations, with a valid driving license and use of a car.
