Job Summary
The successful candidate will provide professional clinical leadership and expertise in enhanced care and management support for complex care plans. As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of maternity care and implement the Trust's Maternity Improvement Plan.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive management and expert opinion of the theatre and complex care within the services.
- Develop care pathways with the multidisciplinary team for patients requiring enhanced care.
- Monitor the budget within the specialty and ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
- Support the department with educational requirements for staff in inpatient and outpatient settings around enhanced care and recognition of deteriorating patients.
- Develop learning opportunities and environments in the clinical practice environment.
- Support the team with expert enhanced maternal care knowledge and skills and be willing to complete the Enhanced Midwifery/Advanced Midwifery Qualification.
- Support transformation and quality improvement in the maternity services as part of the Maternity Improvement Plan and other national/regional drivers.
- Act as Transitional Care Lead within the department and work closely with the neonatal team to comply with safety action 3 of the maternity incentive scheme.
- Support the multidisciplinary team in developing care plans for women requiring enhanced care or care outside guidance.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Registered Midwife with a Midwifery Degree and MSc in Midwifery or equivalent level of experience at Band 7 or above.
- Post-Registration Management Experience at Band 7 or above, including budget management.
- ITU/HDU experience and teaching in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Successful delivery of internal and external regulatory requirements such as CNST and CQC.
- Evidence of knowledge and implementation of service improvements and clinical pathways.
Personal and Professional Responsibilities
- Identify and take responsibility for their own personal training and development requirements, and maintain their own professional profile, in accordance with NMC revalidation and registration.
- Keep up-to-date with current midwifery practice and research.
- Attend specified mandatory training and updating.
