About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our autism research efforts in the NHS England Learning Disability and Autism Programme. As the National Research Lead - Autism, you will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our research and ensuring that our policies and practices are informed by the latest evidence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive research strategy to inform policy and practice in autism and learning disability healthcare delivery.
  • Provide expert guidance and advice to policymakers and stakeholders on the use of research evidence to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the NHS and other organizations to identify and address evidence gaps in autism and learning disability research.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and healthcare providers, to ensure that our research is relevant and impactful.
Requirements
  • PhD-level education in a relevant scientific discipline, with a specialism in autism and/or learning disability.
  • Proven experience in leading research teams and developing research strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex research evidence and develop practical solutions.
