About the Role

We are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing one-on-one and small group support to help them overcome challenges and develop into their best selves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop self-discipline and resilience.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies, drawing on your experience in high-pressure environments.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure each child receives the best possible support.
  • Assist in creating a safe and supportive environment for students to learn and grow.

Ex-military and police personnel often excel in roles within SEMH settings due to their strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your experience handling challenging situations, managing conflict, and fostering teamwork can translate perfectly into helping students who may struggle with authority, routine, or emotional regulation.

Requirements
  • A passion for working with young people and making a positive impact on their lives.
  • A background in the Armed Forces, Police, or a similar structured, discipline-based environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A willingness to learn about and engage with SEMH-specific approaches and strategies.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals (desirable, but not essential).
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work, with a strong sense of responsibility.
