**Position Title:** Volunteer Independent Companion
**Commitment:** Around 4 hours monthly
**Area of Service:** Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole
Coram is committed to improving the lives of the UK's most at-risk children and young individuals, providing assistance from infancy to adulthood. As the oldest children's charity in the UK, Coram has been supporting vulnerable children and young people since 1739, impacting over one million lives each year.
**Role Overview:**
- We are looking for Independent Companions (IC) to provide friendship to children under local authority care. ICs act as dependable, steady, and impartial role models, actively participating in the child's interests and activities.
- By building a friendship with the child, sharing interests, and engaging in various activities together, ICs play a crucial role in enhancing a young person's confidence, self-worth, and future opportunities.
- Activities may include a range of recreational pursuits tailored to the child's age and interests, from bowling to visiting local attractions.
