Job Overview

The School

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEN Primary School Teacher to lead our SEMH inclusion unit. Our school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Role

This is a temp-to-perm role, where you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that cater to the individual needs of our students. You will work closely with a small team of SEND teaching assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons that meet the diverse needs of our students
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students' SEMH requirements
  • Liaise with the SENDCo, Senior Leadership Team, and external professionals to ensure effective collaboration
  • Prepare and develop learning resources that meet the needs of our students
  • Support the professional development of SEND teaching assistants
  • Write progress reports for individual pupils and provide regular feedback to parents/carers

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional SEND qualification(s)
  • Prior experience in a specialist provision
