Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a stimulating and fulfilling environment, providing excellent quality of life and a healthy work-life balance.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality specialist diagnosis, treatment, and care to patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disease in Dorset. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a full range of specialist services to patients, including inpatient, outpatient, and endoscopic care.
  • Participating in the provision of general Gastroenterological services, including weekday specialty take and out-of-hours GI bleed endoscopy rota.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the Gastroenterology service, in line with national and NICE guidelines.
  • Developing and maintaining subspecialty interests that complement the existing department, with a particular welcome for expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Hepatology.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • GMC Registration with Licence to Practice.
  • Higher UK clinical qualification (MRCP) or overseas equivalent.
  • Awarded CCT or on Specialist Register.
Desirable Criteria

Desirable criteria include:

  • 5 years clinical experience in Gastroenterology and General Medicine post membership.
  • Evidence of leadership and service development.
