Consultant Gastroenterologist

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic and progressive Gastroenterology Department at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new appointment to join three Consultant Gastroenterologists, and we welcome applications from candidates with subspecialty interests that complement our existing department.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will contribute to in- and out-patient gastroenterology services, participate in weekday specialty post take reviews, and be part of a GI bleed rota. They will also contribute to the ongoing development of the Gastroenterology service, in line with national and NICE guidelines.

Person SpecificationExperience, Education, Qualifications & Training

• GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
• Higher UK clinical qualification (MRCP) or overseas equivalent
• Awarded CCT or on Specialist Register

Desirable Criteria

• 5 years clinical experience in Gastroenterology & General Medicine post membership

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality specialist diagnosis, treatment, and care to patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disease
• Participate fully in the provision of general Gastroenterological inpatient, outpatient, and endoscopic services
• Take part in weekday specialty Gastroenterology take when covering the ward, with no commitment to the general medical take
• Take part in the out-of-hours GI bleed endoscopy rota (1 in 7)
• Participate fully in the ongoing development of the Gastroenterology service, in line with national and NICE guidelines
