Position Overview

Companies House is undergoing a transformation towards a service-oriented team structure. The current service teams include Filing, Get Company Information (GCI), and Intelligence & Enforcement (I&E). Our Business Analysts are integral to identifying, analyzing, and delivering requirements for these teams while employing Agile methodologies, particularly the Scrum framework. We are experiencing growth due to recent legislative changes and are eager to expand our team of business analysts.

The Business Analysis team operates within Product Design, which is part of the Digital and Technology directorate (DaT). This team collaborates with other professions within the directorate, contributing to Service Squads that develop systems and processes aimed at enhancing service efficiency and effectiveness.

We seek motivated and diligent individuals ready to advance their business analysis careers by joining our team at Companies House as a Senior Business Analyst and contributing to the success of our service squads.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with and report to a Lead Business Analyst within their designated service squad.

In this role, the Senior Business Analyst is tasked with ensuring that requirements for projects and business enhancements are clearly defined to facilitate development work on both existing and new digital services. Additionally, the role involves participating in the business improvement refinement process and addressing live issues to maintain service continuity.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Agile Methodologies: Ensure processes are established for defining and refining user stories to meet Scrum needs while supporting Business Analysts in delivering these stories.
  • Collaboration: Engage with scrum teams, providing analytical representation at all relevant Agile ceremonies (e.g., Sprint planning, Sprint review).
  • Testing: Collaborate with colleagues to determine necessary test coverage for projects and business improvements, ensuring effective testing through data and work item acquisition.
  • Business Improvement: Participate in the Business Improvement process, facilitating sessions to score business value with service team representatives, analyzing and defining problem statements.
  • Business Modelling: Develop expertise in BA tools for modeling business processes, maintaining documentation of business processes, data flows, and system models.
  • User Requirements Management: Ensure development teams comprehend user requirements and serve as an escalation point for queries beyond the scope of a Business Analyst.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across Filing, I&E, and GCI services, as well as with other teams within Digital and Technology.

Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for candidates with the following experience and technical skills:

  • Experience in Agile working and processes for delivering requirements.
  • Background in creating test coverage for requirements, both data and scenarios.
  • Experience in business improvements and resolving live issues.
  • Proficiency in mapping business processes and systems modeling.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to document requirements for development and reference materials post-implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
