Job Title: Traffic Operator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Traffic Operator to oversee the daily activities of our drivers, ensuring efficient and effective operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs, monitoring revenue, and maintaining compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor daily activities of drivers to achieve set targets.
- Control costs by managing nights out and monitoring parking locations.
- Investigate revenue and cost targets, and ensure accurate timesheet approval.
- Ensure costs are correct on running sheets and investigate any discrepancies.
- Allocate revenue correctly and ensure override dates are accurate.
- Take responsibility for containers left on wheels in yards, ensuring exports meet vessel deadlines and empties are returned on time.
- Coordinate pickup legs and ensure relevant information is updated in planning screens.
- Ensure containers are returned to quay or depot before detention fees are incurred.
- Provide drivers with weekend overtime shifts and ensure they are aware of their next day's details.
- Monitor driver cover sheets for changes and ensure drivers are trained to use specialized equipment.
- Ensure jobs do not exceed legal weight requirements and update ATA/ATD/ETA/trailer numbers in Truckcom.
- Set override dates correctly to ensure sub-contractor trailer reports are accurate.
- Monitor ETA's and enter late advices at least 30 minutes before booking time.
- Send demurrage warnings once drivers have been on site for 2 hours.
- Ensure all vehicles are routed and drivers are aware of their job and start time.
- Log OV's and sub-contractors on Truckcom and ensure they are using the app.
- Follow service and MOT schedules and research drivers' legal working hours.
- Build positive relationships with drivers to ensure a content workforce.
Requirements:
- Oversee, manage, and monitor daily activities of allocated drivers.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and ensure regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
- Make decisions in the best interests of the Company and clients, elevating issues to line managers when necessary.
- Promote a company culture that encourages high morale and top performance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Minimise operation expenditure within the business.
- Understand and comply with the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy.
- Set a personal example with respect to health and safety.
- Be an effective team player.
- Be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and in-house systems.
- Be able to question, challenge, and improve existing processes.
- Establish effective working relationships.
