Join Our Team: Sustainability Compliance Specialist

The Skills Coalition is excited to announce an opening for the role of Sustainability Compliance Specialist. This full-time, permanent position is designed for an individual who will adeptly oversee and coordinate sustainability initiatives within our organization and for our clients. Reporting directly to the executive leadership, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all sustainability objectives and initiatives are met in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating training and development sessions for the team on the Integrated Management System (IMS) and relevant legislative frameworks.
  • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive audit framework for statutory and sustainability compliance.
  • Ensuring that all personnel are informed about and adhere to sustainability operational protocols, providing necessary training.
  • Creating and implementing Sustainability Plans to align with operational goals.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external organizations on sustainability issues to drive site enhancements.
  • Promoting a culture of sustainability within the organization.
  • Ensuring adherence to legal standards.
  • Overseeing the sustainability calendar to foster continuous improvement.
  • Monitoring and evaluating sustainability systems and procedures across all locations.
  • Leading the Audit Program to assess compliance and uphold external accreditation standards.
  • Guiding managers in the IMS System to ensure compliance and encourage performance enhancements.
  • Providing expert advice and coaching on sustainability matters.
  • Assisting with sustainability permits, applications, and risk assessments related to operational activities.
  • Generating detailed monthly reports to inform leadership and shape sustainability strategy, policy, and product development.
  • Supporting effective employee communication processes and leading or assisting in meetings as necessary.
Qualifications
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of the energy sector (preferred).
  • Experience with CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Background in a complex commercial environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of sustainability principles, legislation, and ISO 14001 audits.
  • Familiarity with statutory compliance and Environmental Management systems.
  • Solid understanding of safety considerations in construction and project management.
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to assess performance against benchmarks and identify solutions to meet business needs.
  • Decisive in challenging business scenarios with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Willingness to make informed decisions, take initiative, and adapt to evolving demands.
  • Commitment to fostering the development of others and working collaboratively.
  • Proficient IT skills and a genuine passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
